Responsibility

How do you choose your materials?

At GILI’S the origin of our materials is critical for our standard of quality, so we source 100% of our fabrics and cloths in Europe, (Italy and Spain). This enables us to guarantee the quality and to keep a close eye on their manufacture and durability.

Do you use environmentally friendly materials? If so, which?

Nearly all the materials used for our swimwear are produced from recycled polyester fibre which is much cleaner than ordinary polyester and without any heavy metals.

These essential qualities lie at the heart of our global strategy, a strategy focused on sustainability.

What about the cotton?

The cotton used for our t-shirts is OEKO Tex certified biological cotton.

What do you do to make fashion less of a pollutant?

We are growing our business within a framework focusing on environmental responsibilities: selecting European materials, short-circuit production, in Portugal and Morocco, and by developing high quality, long-lasting and hard-wearing products to restrict over-consumption of textiles. Furthermore, we use a dry printing method that does not require an excessive use of water, as is often the case in the prêt-à-porter industry.

What are the working conditions like with your suppliers?

All our suppliers ensure good working conditions for their employees as well as a suitable minimum wage.

Where are your collections produced?

We produce in countries near France, mainly in Portugal, and also in Morocco, for sustainable manufacturing that favours short circuits and minimises the transport of goods.

How do you price your products?

The prices are determined by the factories who are committed to providing a high-quality product, handmade by people with a high level of expertise and whose working conditions and salary match their skills. We then apply fixed coefficients that enable GILI’S to develop its business operation, notably through its shops, to implement marketing and communication campaigns and provide a good level of remuneration to the members of the team.

How do you reduce the impact of packaging?

For us creating a swimwear brand incorporates taking care of the surrounding environment that we all love. We have therefore designed 100% recycled and recyclable plastic packaging and we are developing 100% recycled cardboard shipment packaging.

Why do you sometimes run out of stock?

At GILI’S, we have a reasonable stock policy to avoid deadstock and textile over-consumption that is associated with reduced cost sales.

On the contrary, we prefer low volumes that we repeat once a year, to value our expertise.

How do you maximise the life span of your products?

Our expertise is based on both the uniqueness of our design and the quality of our pieces that are well thought out and crafted to last and never let you down.

To maximise the lifespan of your swimwear, we recommend rinsing it with clean water after use and machine washing it regularly following the care instructions.

How do you repair swimwear that has become gradually damaged by wear and tear? (missing tips, drawstring, etc.)

If certain components of your swimwear become damaged, GILI’S provides an after-sales service to extend the longevity of your product and replace the damaged parts.

What do I do with the swimwear that I no longer wear? Do you facilitate recycling?

To help you recycle your old textiles, we have launched our "RE-USE PROGRAM": send us your old 100% polyester swimwear, whatever the brand, so that we can recycle it to create new polyester fibres, enabling new swimwear to be produced. For this purpose, GILI’S partners Carbios, the world leader in bio-recycling and biodegradation of plastics.

And to top it all, this allows you to benefit from 15% off your next purchase.
