Our best flowering destinations to celebrate Spring
Spring is here, the sun is shining again, and the trees are adorned with magnificent and colorful flowers.
It’s a wonderful time of year to enjoy the outdoors, clear your mind, or even start planning trips!
In this article, we won’t be giving you a spring-cleaning lesson, but rather unveiling the most beautiful flower-filled destinations.
The Island of Madeira
Located about 600 km off the Moroccan coast and southwest of Portugal, this small volcanic island in the middle of the Atlantic is known as the "Island of Flowers." Madeira celebrates spring for 40 days with the Flower Festival.
The festivities begin with the construction of a Wall of Flowers - Muro da Esperança, followed by the Grand Flower Parade, where dozens of floats parade through the streets of Funchal, adorned with magnificent colorful flowers.
Madeira is home to many endemic flowers that you can discover in its beautiful botanical park or on scenic hikes along the coast.
Grasse
Head to the south of France to visit Grasse, the perfume capital, where the climate is mild and sunny in spring.
In the past, fields of jasmine, roses, and tuberose flowers covered the town. The world's greatest perfumers settled here to develop their fragrances, including Fragonard, one of the most renowned.
You can visit the International Perfume Museum, which showcases the history of perfume from all aspects—raw materials, production, artwork, and antiques...
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a perfect city to visit in spring, and its floating flower market, known as Bloemenmarkt, is a must-see! This stretch of the Singel canal bursts with vibrant colors and the scent of fresh flowers. If bringing home a bouquet isn’t an option, you can purchase bulbs or seeds to plant at home, available at the market.
Also worth visiting are the Keukenhof Gardens: the world’s largest flower park, where thousands of tulips and other varieties bloom in spring, showcasing the pride of the Netherlands.
If you prefer to escape the city for a bit, some travel companies offer cruise boat trips combined with bike tours to admire the blooming tulip fields and explore the region freely.
At GILI’S, we love flowers, which is why this season, our floral print is inspired by the tulip fields found in the Netherlands during springtime.
The Tulip model comes in Orange and Yellow— which one will you fall for?
Japan
Hanami literally means "flower viewing" in Japanese, referring to the appreciation of the beauty of cherry blossoms, known as Sakura.
The blooming season marks the arrival of spring and is especially cherished by the Japanese and travelers alike, who come to admire this incredible natural and poetic beauty.
It makes us want to book a trip to Japan right away—what about you?
Martinique
Located in the Caribbean's Antilles archipelago, this French overseas department was named "The Island of Flowers" by its first explorers. Its diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity are impressive, with Martinique’s natural park housing over 1,700 different plant species.
With its paradise beaches, high mountains, and tropical forests, Martinique is a land full of diversity, culture, fragrances, music, dance, and laughter—where history resonates around every corner.
